Set Up Your Email Account on Thunderbird

This article explains how to configure an email account in Mozilla Thunderbird. It outlines the required email setup settings and provides step-by-step instructions for adding your email account, allowing you to send and receive emails through the Thunderbird desktop application.

Prepare your email setup settings

Before configuring Mozilla Thunderbird, ensure your email account is already created, configured, and verified as working. Thunderbird only connects to an existing email account.

Complete the full setup first, including DNS configuration and webmail testing, using the appropriate Getting Started guide based on the type of email you have:

Once you have your email configuration settings ready, you can proceed with adding your email account to Mozilla Thunderbird.

On your Windows PC, open Thunderbird.
At the top right of the screen, click on the Menu icon.
Click New Account, then Email. A new screen will open.
Enter your name, and the email address that you want to set up.
Click MANUAL CONFIGURATION.
Complete the setup by following the prompts and entering your email settings.

On your Mac PC, open Thunderbird.
At the top right of the screen, click on the Menu icon.
Click New Account, then Email. A new screen will open.
