Connect Your Domain to Your Freeparking Email Service

NOTE. This documentation only applies to users with classic products from Freeparking.

To make your Freeparking email address work, you need to point your domain’s MX record to the Freeparking email server. 

Where you update the MX record depends on where your domain’s name servers are hosted. Please follow the steps below that match your situation.

 

Check First: Which name servers are you using?

NOTE: Replace any instance of (yourdomain.tld) in this document with your domain name.

 

I'm using the Freeparking name servers

If your domain is connected to the following name servers:

  • ns.freeparking.co.nz and 
  • ns2.freeparking.co.nz

Follow these steps in your account manager:

  1. Access your DNS Settings in Account Manager.
  2. Add MX record.

    Sub Domain: (leave it empty)
    Priority: 0
    Assign To Server: mta.hosts.net.nz

  1. Add A record for mail.(yourdomain.tld).

    Sub Domain: mail 
    IP Address: 43.245.52.240

  1. Add TXT record for anti-spoofing.

    Sub Domain: (Leave it empty) 
    Text Record: v=spf1 a mx include:_spf.hosts.net.nz ?all

  1. Wait for the new DNS records to fully work.

 

Resolution Time

Updating the Name Servers and DNS records within Freeparking will take 2-4 hours to fully resolve on the internet. However, other ISPs have longer TTL durations that may override our resolution time. Some of these changes may take 24-48 hours to fully work.

 

I'm using external name servers (not Freeparking)

If your domain uses name servers from another provider (not Freeparking), follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your DNS provider's account.
  2. Locate the DNS settings and add the following DNS records:
    Host Record Type Priority Points to
    (yourdomain.tld) MX Lowest mta.hosts.net.nz
    mail.(yourdomain.tld) A   43.245.52.240
    (yourdomain.tld) TXT   v=spf1 a mx include:_spf.hosts.net.nz ?all

 

NOTE:
  • If you’re unsure how to add these records, contact your DNS provider’s support team.
  • If your domain is registered with Freeparking, you can switch to Freeparking name servers to manage everything from your Account Manager.
  • Don’t forget to transfer your existing DNS records from your previous name servers if you wish to switch to Freeparking name servers. See our guide on updating name servers for step-by-step instructions.
