Set Up Your Email Account on iOS Mail
This article explains how to configure your email account on iPhone or iPad using the built-in iOS Mail app. It outlines the required email setup settings and provides step-by-step instructions for adding your email account on iOS, allowing you to send and receive emails using the default Mail application.
Prepare your email setup settings
Before configuring your email account on iPhone or iPad, ensure your email account has already been created, properly configured, and verified as working. The iOS Mail app only connects to an existing email account.
Complete the full setup first, including DNS configuration and webmail testing, using the appropriate Getting Started guide based on the type of email you have:

Add your email account to iPhone or iPad Mail app
Once you have your email configuration settings ready, you can proceed with adding your email account to the built-in iOS Mail app on your iPhone or iPad.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings.
- Tap Apps, then select Mail.
- Tap Mail Accounts.
- Select Add Account, then enter your email address
- Tap Next, then select Add Other Account.
- Tap Mail Account and enter your name, email address, password, and description.
- Tap Next. Mail will attempt to detect your email settings and complete the setup automatically. If the correct settings are found, tap Done to finish adding your account.
- If Mail can't find your email settings, tap Next to enter the settings manually.
- Choose IMAP or POP for your new account.
- Complete the setup by following the prompts and entering your email settings.
