Standard and Premium Name Servers
This guide explains the Standard and Premium DNS name servers offered by Crazy Domains, how they work, where they are managed, and when each type is used.
Standard Name Servers (Standard DNS)
When you register a domain with Crazy Domains, it is automatically set to use the Standard name servers:
ns1.crazydomains.comns2.crazydomains.com
You can manage your Standard DNS records in your Account Manager>Domain Manager>DNS Settings.
Standard DNS allows you to create the following records:
- A
- AAAA
- CNAME
- MX
This setup is suitable for connecting your domain to a website hosting provider and setting up basic email services.
Standard DNS is intentionally limited to essential record types. This keeps domain registration costs lower, since many customers only need basic website or email configuration and do not require advanced DNS features. Including advanced features for all domains would increase costs even for customers who do not use them.
For most basic setups, Standard DNS is sufficient.
Premium Name Servers (Premium DNS)
If your domain requires advanced DNS features, you can upgrade to Premium DNS. After upgrading, you must change the name servers of your domain to the following:
ns1.dnspackage.comns2.dnspackage.com
When Premium DNS is activated, a separate Premium DNS product appears in your account with its own DNS management interface.
However, all DNS changes made there will synchronize with the domain’s main DNS Settings in your Account Manager.
In addition to the basic DNS records, Premium DNS allows you to add the following records:
- TXT records (commonly required for domain verification, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC)
- SRV records
- Email forwarding
- Web forwarding
Premium DNS is typically required when a third-party service asks you to add TXT or SRV records, or when you need built-in forwarding features.
