What Is a Name Server
This article explains what a name server is, how it works, and the types of authoritative name servers offered by Crazy Domains.
Understanding name servers
A name server is like an address book for the internet. When someone types your domain name (for example, www.yourdomain.com) into a web browser, the internet needs to know where your website or email is hosted. The authoritative name server holds the official records for your domain and tells computers exactly where to find your services.
Without the correct authoritative name servers, your website and email may not be accessible.
Crazy Domains authoritative name servers
Crazy Domains provides authoritative name servers that store the official DNS records for your domain. Your domain must use the correct name servers to ensure that its website, email, and other services function properly.
Depending on your product or plan, you can manage DNS through different platforms, such as the Account Manager, cPanel, or Plesk. To activate a specific DNS zone for your domain, you need to set your domain to use the corresponding name servers.
Standard name servers
When you register a domain with Crazy Domains, it is automatically configured to use the Standard or default name servers, ns1.crazydomains.com and ns2.crazydomains.com.
Premium name servers
If your domain requires advanced DNS features, you can upgrade to Premium DNS. After upgrading, your domain must be set to use the Premium name servers, ns1.dnspackage.com and ns2.dnspackage.com.
Web Hosting name servers
When you purchase a web hosting plan with Crazy Domains, you can use the Web Hosting DNS.
Web Hosting DNS refers to the free DNS management available in your hosting control panel (cPanel or Plesk). To activate it, your domain must be set to use the Web Hosting name servers, ns1.syrahost.com and ns2.syrahost.com.
